My name is Saya and I was born and raised in Japan. I moved to New York City 7 years ago in 2010. Life brought me here through a man I married, but we are not together anymore. I currently live in Astoria but I’ve actually lived all over New York – Bronx, Queens and Harlem.
I come from a family that is not too big nor too small and they all live in Japan. I started out studying make-up and hair there because I was into esthetics. That’s where I first got licensed. But when I moved here I wanted to learn nails and had to get licensed for that. It happened around 2011/ 2012 and ever since then I’ve been working with Amy.
Currently I’m a full time nail esthetic. I’ve been working for the past 11 years as I started at the age of 19. One day I would love to own a business and take it back to my country. It would be a nail or spa business.
In my opinion, sundays is not a regular nail salon. It’s more about personal relationships. I really like it because it reminds me of my home in Japan which is all about loving people. sundays cares about its employees and customers instead of a regular NYC salon which is just for convenience. My favorite part of the job are people.
