Pregnancy can change everything—how you live, how you work, how you view the world—but it doesn’t change the fact that everyone, especially moms-to-be, needs to take care of themselves. In a recent episode of Tea Talk with Amy, Amy sat down with Lauren Berlingeri, Co-Founder and CEO of HigherDOSE and mom-to-be (of twins!), about the challenges of adapting your beauty and wellness routine throughout pregnancy.
As a certified nutritionist, former model, and entrepreneur, Lauren offered unique insight into caring for your body even when it’s undergoing a dramatic change, such as pregnancy. No two journeys are the same, especially when it comes to something as life-altering as becoming a new mother. We learned so much from Lauren’s commitment to honoring not only her growing babies’ needs but also her own. Check out Lauren’s awesome self-care tips for expectant mom’s below!
Tip 1: Structuring diet around individual and unique genetic needs.
Here at sundays we believe there is no one-size-fits-all path to wellness. Lauren takes that same approach towards her diet, by tailoring her food choices to her own unique genetics. After getting the results of her genetic testing, she sat down with a gene specialist to learn which foods were best for her body’s specific needs.
Tip 2: Treat yourself as your most valuable investment.
“Take care of yourself so you can ultimately love other people more.” Lauren gave us the simple but important reminder that we can best help others when we first help ourselves. Taking the time and energy to practice self-care is so vital to connecting with others.
You are your greatest tool to wellness.
Tip 3: Respect your body’s needs when you work out.
No one knows you better than yourself. After years of pushing herself harder in each and every workout, pregnancy finally made Lauren slow down and take a breather. When her body was telling her it needed something different, she listened, adapting her fitness routine to respect what she was feeling.
