Hello! My name is Yvonne Carry. I am a Certified Postpartum Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, and Womb Care Specialist via Belly Binding. I began birth work due to my Postpartum experience with my son. I experienced lactation issues and was also diagnosed with Postpartum Depression and Anxiety. Once I received the professional support that was needed, Smooth Transitions: Postpartum Concierge Services was created. Our mission is to help families smoothly transition from postpartum to parenthood by providing education and guidance surrounding the Fourth Trimester. Our ultimate goal is to help as many families as possible and continue to spread awareness about the importance of Postpartum Support.
Have you always been into wellness or did you one day realize the importance of it?
I realized the importance of wellness when I started to have issues with my reproductive health. This was around 2014. I found out I had cysts and fibroids and needed surgery. During the surgery, they found endometriosis and had to remove my left ovary. My doctor started me on birth control which I had to take every day and I started to get sick. So I took it upon myself to stop taking birth control and changed to an alkaline diet which helped keep cysts, fibroids, and endometriosis at bay. I’m really adamant about what foods and chemicals I put in or on my body because I’ve been through so much. It’s tough because I miss red meat at times but I remind myself why chose not to eat it.
What does wellness mean to you?
To me, wellness means living a committed healthy life based on your needs and what works for you.
How do you get back on track once you fall off the wagon?
I go cold turkey. It’s the only way for me to get back on track when falling off the wagon
