Ju Rhyu has worked for some of the world’s biggest brands such as Kraft Foods, American Express and Samsung, launching new products, executing multi-channel marketing campaigns, and creating best-in-class consumer experiences. Rhyu leveraged her corporate experiences and launched Hero Cosmetics, a brand focused on reimagining acne care in 2017 with just one hero product, Mighty Patch, as a test on Amazon. Five years later, Hero Cosmetics is now the #1 brand in acne patches and the #2 brand in acne care with over 20 award-winning products and a business that’s doing over $100M in revenue with high profitability. Hero products are sold in over 9,000 points of distribution and are consistently #1 in beauty and personal care on Amazon. She led the fundraising process for Hero which resulted in a Series A investment by Aria Growth Partners and successfully oversaw the sale of Hero Cosmetics to Church and Dwight which closed in October of 2022 for $630M.
She received the CEW 2022 Female Founder Award, was named one of the 50 people to shape fashion and beauty in 2022 by The Glossy, and was included in the Inc. Magazine 2019 Female Founders 100 list, and named a Yotpo 2019 Amazing Women in E-commerce. She is a graduate of Brown University and Columbia Business School.
